Minutes of Men’s Committee meeting held on Thursday 25th March, 2010:

Attendance: 
Frank Kiernan, Captain, Billy Coughlan, Secretary, Damien Farrell, Treasurer, Michael McLoughlin, Competition Secretary, Dermot Kenny, Vincent Shelley, PJ McCormack, Tommy Costello, Louis Cunningham, Johny Foster, Benny Greham, JJ Guinan,  Sean O’Connell
Apologies: 
PJ Higgins, Vice Captain.

On the proposal of Louis Cunningham, seconded by Vincent Shelley, the minutes of the February Men’s Committee meeting were approved.

There were no matters arising.

Management Committee Decisions

 The Secretary informed the committee the following items were tabled at the March management committee meeting of Moate GC for decision

• Ranger cards for committee members to marshall slow play

 Course Ranger cards to be available by end of March. Societies to sign in, in the shop, and get their bag tags. Course ranger notice signs on first tee box, agreed.

• Lease 4 new buggies at a cost of €100 per week

• Battery operated caddy cars

Deferred

• Sunday Societies

Societies will not be permitted on Sundays only in exceptional circumstances and at specific times that will not impact on members

• Prizes for Thursday opens to be Golf Shop vouchers as follows:

1^st        €75      2^nd        €50      3^rd        €25      Gross   €25

Approved with a €25 voucher for ladies if more than 20 enter competition

The Men’s committee proposed the following items be tabled at the April management committee meeting

• Placing taps/ball washers on tee boxes
• To consider providing non GUI leisure golf on Mondays at €15 per round

The Committee agreed the following

1. Handicap adjustments for Winter League & Society scores over the winter
2. Inter Club competitions being held at week ends will take place after the finish of the competition time sheets only
3. All unclaimed prizes will be recycled after 1 month
4. Open Thursdays to be highlighted on Moate GC web site

The Captain wished PJ McCormack and our Junior golfers the best of luck in our first inter club competition on 8^th April.

The Committee expressed their sympathies to the families of Padraig Keenan, Gerry Campbell, Martin Heavey and Paul O’Brien on their recent sad loss.
