Minutes of Men’s Committee meeting held on Thursday 28^th January, 2010

 Attendance:
 Frank Kiernan (Captain), Billy Coughlan (Secretary),  Damien Farrell (Treasurer), Michael McLoughlin (Competition Secretary),  Dermot Kenny, Tommy Costello, Louis Cunningham, Johny Foster, Benny Greham, JJ Guinan, PJ McCormack, Sean O’Connell, Vincent Shelley.

Competitions

• The Secretary stated that the minutes would record decisions taken by the men’s committee and will be put on the club website for the information of members.

Week End comps: M McLoughlin, T Costello, J Foster, JJ Guinan, L Cunningham, M Kelly, L Galvin (roster)
Prizes: B Greham
Prize Categories: Winner, Cat 1(0-7), Cat 2(8-13), Cat 3(14-19), Cat 4(20+) and Veterans

• All week end counting competitions will be included for Golfer of the Year
  points
• Competitions fixture list for the year was agreed and will be posted on the 
  Web Site
• Competition cards not entered on the computer will be disqualified from 
  the competition and are not eligible for a prize but handicaps may be cut
• Handicap Committee: PJ McCormack (Secretary), V Shelley, JJ Guinan
• The GUI Leinster finals of the Pierce Purcell and Junior Cup are being held 
  in Moate GC on 3^rd & 4^th July and the following were appointed to manage 
  the event: D Kenny, B Coughlan and 1 Management Committee nominee
• Captain Frank Kiernan’s drive in, shotgun start, on Sunday 28^th March, 2010
• Secretary to research when local ladies opens in other clubs are being held 
  in order to maximise open revenues
• 3 open events and club classic to be run by management committee
• Senior open day on Tuesdays, over 50
• Golf for the Year and mixed foursomes should be financed by both men and 
  ladies clubs
• Moate GC will participate in the following GUI / inter club competitions in 2010

The club will provide match meal only for players

• Only 3balls allowed on the course on Saturday mornings, including societies,
  until society time sheet concludes, 4balls allowed thereafter
• Starter and course rangers to be in place for weekend and ranger cards to be
  issued to members with a buggy reserved for course rangers
• A request from Ardee GC, who are celebrating their Centenary Year in 2010, 
  for a 4ball green fee was approved
• The club extended their best wishes for a speedy recovery to Kit Geoghegan
• Men’s club monthly meeting on the last Thursday of every month at 9 pm

 The Men’s committee proposed the following items be tabled at the January 
management meeting:

• Reposition notice board on 1^st tee box and display local & competition rules
• Seek management committee nominee to assist D Kenny & B Coughlan to manage the Leinster GUI finals in Moate, July 3&4
• Proposal to hold Club House Classic & draw on the last week end in August and not proceed with mini classic
• Lunch time and summer evening cover for the shop / juniors?
• Ranger cards for committee members to marshall slow play
• Lease 4 new buggies at a cost of €100 per week
• Entry to ‘Golf for the Year’ €10
