Minutes of Men’s Committee meeting held on Thursday 25th February, 2010

Attendance:
Frank Kiernan (Captain), Billy Coughlan, (Secretary), Damien Farrell (Treasurer), Tommy Costello, Louis Cunningham, Johny Foster, Benny Greham, JJ Guinan, Sean O’Connell

Apologies:
PJ Higgins (Vice Captain), Michael McLoughlin (Competition Secretary), Dermot Kenny, Vincent Shelley.

On the proposal of Benny Greham, seconded by Louis Cunningham, the minutes of the January Men’s Committee meeting were approved.

 Management Committee Decisions
The Secretary informed the committee the following items were tabled at the February management committee meeting of Moate GC for decision

  • Reposition notice board on 1st tee box and display local & competition rules

Approved

  • Seek management committee nominee to assist D Kenny & B Coughlan to manage the Leinster GUI finals in Moate, July 3&4

Tommy Conlon will join Dermot Kenny & Billy Coughlan to co-ordinate the club in hosting the Leinster finals of the Junior Cup & Pierce Purcell.

  • Proposal to hold Club House Classic & draw on the last week end in August and not proceed with mini classic

Clubhouse Classic to be held on the following dates, 27th, 28th and 29thAugust (BC and TC). Ladies open August 2nd.

  • Lunch time and summer evening cover for the shop / juniors?

Lunchtime and summer evening cover in the ‘shop’ agreed.

  • Ranger cards for committee members to marshall slow play

Course committee to roster all committee members to act with ranger cards. Buggy kept for Health & Safety issues and Ranger. Societies to sign in, in the shop, and get their bag tags. Course ranger notice signs on first tee box, agreed.

  • Lease 4 new buggies at a cost of €100 per week

Frank Kiernan & Liam Galvin to re-examine costings and revert back to management committee

  • Entry to ‘Golf for the Year’ €10

€10 entry income from the entry will support the prize. After discussion the status quo is to remain.  Free subs winners to have their prize credited to their sub in following year, agreed.

The Men’s committee proposed the following items be tabled at the March management committee meeting

  • In exceptional circumstances societies will be allowed out on Sundays, in a 3-ball only, after 12 o’clock
  • Prizes for Thursday opens to be Golf Shop vouchers as follows:

1st        €75      2nd        €50      3rd        €25      Gross   €25

It was noted that Ranger Cards will be ready for use in by mid March.
